Al-Haqa storyteller: Al Azalia (Abderahim El Mohari)
Katia Kameli is an artist, producer and director. She lives in Paris. She received her DNSEP from the National School of Fine Arts of Bourges and then became a member of the College-Invisible, post-graduate work directed by Paul Devautour. Her work is intimately tied to her own experience, her plural identity. Protean, it expresses an in-between, the intermediary when membership to a group is rejected in favor of multiplicity. She thus positions herself as a hybrid, using a “third space” to open doors onto the emergence of other visions, positions and forms. This third space unsettles the stories upon which it is built, sets them in a critical state, thus making way for a re-writing, a back and forth between “History” and “narration”. The heterogeneous forms she manipulates, video, photography, installation, sketches, also participate in this displacement.
In 2006 she directed the project Bledi in Progess, a platform for training, production and direction of audiovisuals in Algiers. In 2007-08 she was the winner of the program Paris-New York, CulturesFrance and participated in a residency at Location One, NY. Her work has found an audience and gained recognition on the national and international artistic and cinematographic scene amongst which: The Georges Pompidou Center, The French Cinémateque , Manifesta 8, Wallace Gallery, New York, Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, Galerie Anne de Villepoix, Paris, Rotunda Gallery, New York, the Biennale of Seville, Cornerhouse.
