In 1993 Frank Barkow and Regine Leibinger founded their architecture practice in Berlin. Their interdisciplinary, discursive attitude is formed by the continuous interaction of design, research, and teaching and allows their work to expand and respond to advancing knowledge and technology.

Recent projects include a gatehouse and factory-campus cantina / event space in Stuttgart Germany and the TRUTEC Office Building in Seoul. Current research projects have focused on digital laser cutting; infra light concrete, facade systems, space-frames, and ceramic elements. Current projects in Berlin include a high rise near the main train station for Vivico Developments.

Barkow Leibinger’s research work was included recently in the 11th Architecture Biennale, Venice, and was shown at the Architectural Association in London and 032c Gallery in Berlin in conjunction with the publication of the catalogue “An Atlas of Fabrication”. Their work is in the permanent collections of MoMA, New York, the Heinz Architecture Center, Pittsburgh, and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt.

The work of Barkow Leibinger Architects has been published worldwide. In 2007 it was awarded with the Marcus Prize for Architecture. Their Trutec Building in Seoul / Korea received an AIA Institute Honor Award for Architecture in 2008, the Trumpf Cantina received in 2009 the DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany and an AIA Institute Honor Award for Architecture in 2010. The Trumpf Campus Ditzingen was awarded with the 13th Architectural Record Good Design is Good Business Award 2011.
